LIVERPOOL
Jurgen Klopp and Roberto De Zerbi both blown away by ‘absolutely incredible’ player in Liverpool’s win over Brighton
Both Jurgen Klopp and Roberto De Zerbi praised the same player following Liverpool’s triumph over Brighton on Sunday.
Liverpool staged a comeback to defeat Brighton 2-1, reclaiming the top spot in the Premier League.
Danny Welbeck netted the opening goal in just the second minute, prompting fans to criticize a Liverpool player for his involvement in the goal.
Luis Diaz equalized before Mohamed Salah sealed the victory with a goal in the 65th minute, securing all three points for Liverpool.
Both Klopp and De Zerbi lauded Alexis Mac Allister, who departed Brighton for Liverpool last summer, for his exceptional performance. Mac Allister played a sublime pass to Salah for his goal and showcased dominance in the midfield throughout the match.
“I witnessed many exceptional performances today,” remarked the Liverpool manager. “Yes, Macca was outstanding, absolutely outstanding.
“When you possess such talent and character, you should showcase it. That’s Macca for you; he’s capable of it, so go ahead and do it.”
Mac Allister’s former manager also commended his performance, praising his ‘incredible’ assist.
“I believe he has developed into a fantastic player,” added the Italian.
“The assist for the second goal was remarkable. I’m delighted and proud of him because I coached him, and he deserves to be a significant player in a top team.”
Since his £35 million transfer last summer, the 25-year-old has appeared in 35 matches across all competitions. He has emerged as a crucial player in Klopp’s system, making a significant impact as he operates further up the field.
