Mo Salah breaks THREE records in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Man Utd
Mohamed Salah achieved not just one but THREE records as he secured a crucial point for Liverpool in their matchup against Manchester United.
The match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday. The scoring was initiated by Luis Diaz in the first half, followed by Bruno Fernandes capitalizing on a mistake by Jarell Quansah to find the net from inside the center circle.
Kobbie Mainoo concluded a remarkable Manchester United play with a splendid goal, putting them ahead 2-1. Nevertheless, Mohamed Salah stepped up and converted a penalty in the 84th minute to equalize the score.
He calmly slotted the ball past Andre Onana, breaking THREE records in the process.
Firstly, Salah has now surpassed Alan Shearer’s record by scoring the most goals against Manchester United in Premier League history, tallying 11 goals.
Secondly, his six league goals at Old Trafford set a new record for any visiting player in Premier League history, surpassing Steven Gerrard’s previous record of five.
Lastly, Salah became the first visiting player to score in four consecutive league away games against Manchester United.
With his goal against the Red Devils, Salah reached his 16th league goal of the season, trailing only Ollie Watkins (18) and Erling Haaland (19) in the scoring charts.
In terms of the league table, Liverpool’s draw prevents them from reclaiming the top spot as they sit in second place, level on points (71) with Arsenal but trailing on goal difference. Manchester City occupies third place, trailing their rivals by just one point.
