Liverpool star forced to limit Instagram comments after receiving abuse from fans for Man Utd performance

‏Following his performance against Manchester United, a Liverpool player faced online abuse, prompting him to restrict comments on his social media accounts.

The match at Old Trafford ended in a captivating 2-2 draw, with Bruno Fernandes leveling the score after Luis Diaz had opened the scoring for Liverpool with a goal from inside the centre circle.

Kobbie Mainoo’s stunning goal gave the hosts the lead, but Mohamed Salah equalized for Liverpool from the penalty spot. However, the momentum shifted when Jarell Quansah’s misplaced pass allowed Bruno Fernandes to score from distance, turning the tide in favor of Manchester United.

Quansah’s unfortunate error drew criticism on social media, prompting him to restrict comments on Instagram due to the abuse he received. Despite their efforts, Liverpool could only secure a point in their quest for the Premier League title.

Klopp declined to place blame on the 21-year-old for the costly error but advised him to deactivate his social media accounts temporarily.

“As a football player in the Premier League and playing for Liverpool, I have the bad news it will not be the last mistake in his life, unfortunately,” he said. “That’s how life is. I thought he dealt extremely well with it, we dealt well with it. But when our idols in the past made these kinds of mistakes there was no social media, so I hope he’s smart enough to switch that off.

“Don’t read the Daily Mail or whatever where they go for people in these moments and make it personal. He dealt extremely well with it and that’s part of the game.”

The German boss also added: “We want to play football and keep the ball and play build-up. It is not a great situation but there are bigger mistakes in football and weren’t used, but Bruno saw the opportunity and took it and that’s how it is.

“There is absolutely no blame or criticism, not at all, it just happens. He will learn from it and that’s the best thing that can happen.”

Liverpool’s draw against Manchester United keeps them in second place, trailing behind Arsenal on goal difference. Klopp’s team will return to league action on April 14th with a home match against Crystal Palace.
