Fans left confused by the same thing while watching Bournemouth vs Man Utd as ‘ridiculous’ claim made

Manchester United supporters are puzzled by a particular aspect of their current away match against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

Dominic Solanke scored for Bournemouth, giving them the lead after 16 minutes, and they dominated the first half in terms of chances created.

Bruno Fernandes managed to equalize for United with a powerful half-volley from close range, but Justin Kluivert then put Bournemouth back in the lead on 36 minutes.

In the first half, Bournemouth attempted 12 shots on goal, with five of them hitting the target, while United managed only five shots, with one on target.

Viewers of the game were swift to observe a recurring issue: the ball frequently getting stuck in the pitch in Bournemouth’s half due to water, while moving faster at the opposite end of the pitch.

Several fans on Twitter pointed out the issue, with one remarking, “United’s attacking half feels like a swimming pool, making it almost impossible to play effectively.”

Another wrote: “I don’t know whether to be outraged or impressed.”

A third commented: “This is ridiculous – the half of the pitch we’re attacking is soaking wet, you can see water flying up.”

Opposing fans, however, argued that the pitch issue would likely impact Bournemouth in the second half as well, given that their defenders also have to defend in the same problematic area.

Although the FA’s Laws of the Game regulate pitch conditions, including pre-match checks by officials, there seems to be no explicit limit regarding watering the pitch before kick-off.

However, there is a specific regulation for half-time, allowing the home club to water the pitch as long as it notifies the referee and the visiting team in advance and ensures the watering is evenly distributed across the entire pitch.
