Ivan Toney ‘looking to earn more’ than one of Man Utd’s best players to agree to transfer

According to a recent report from The Sun, Ivan Toney is seeking a substantial wage package if he were to join Manchester United.

The Brentford striker, who has garnered interest from clubs like Arsenal, United, and Chelsea, is rumored to be seeking wages around £250,000 per week.

This hefty salary demand could potentially deter potential suitors from pursuing a transfer for the prolific forward.

The reported wage demand of £250,000 per week, equivalent to approximately £13 million per year, is cited as a factor preventing Brentford from securing an extension with Ivan Toney.

If Toney were to join Manchester United at this wage, he would supposedly earn £10,000 per week more than the club’s captain, Bruno Fernandes.

Manchester United has a history of offering substantial wages to players, as evidenced by reports from The Sun indicating that both Mason Mount and Anthony Martial, despite limited appearances this season, currently earn £250,000 per week.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank acknowledged in February that he anticipates losing Toney during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Frank said: “The reality is he’s got one more year left on his contract in the summer. I think he’s been pretty open about playing for a top club in the future.

“There’s a couple of scenarios; he leaves in the summer, he leaves in the winter, or he stays until the end.

“If he’s leaving – whatever, summer, winter or the summer after – I think it will be fantastic seeing him playing for a top club.”

Following Brentford’s 2-0 victory over Wolves in February, Toney addressed his future, stating,

“I’m currently a Brentford player, and nobody can foresee the future. Whatever unfolds, happens, but my primary focus is to contribute positively to Brentford’s success, help maintain their league status, and continue scoring goals to secure three points.

” Reflecting on his manager’s remarks, he added, “I interpret it as a sign that he may not want me, but ultimately, I cannot compel clubs to pursue me.”

“I’ve just got to keep doing what I do and that’s score goals. What will be will be.”
