Arne Slot gives major update on Liverpool job talks and drops the biggest hint yet

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has addressed reports linking him with Liverpool for the first time. Following the confirmation in January that Jurgen Klopp would depart the club at the end of the 2023/24 season, Liverpool has been linked with several potential successors, including Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim, Thomas Tuchel, and Thomas Frank.
This week, it was revealed that 45-year-old Arne Slot has emerged as the top contender to succeed Jurgen Klopp as
Liverpool manager in the summer. Speaking ahead of Feyenoord’s match against Go Ahead Eagles, Slot confirmed his desire to join Liverpool. As reported by Sky Sports, the 45-year-old stated,
“The clubs are in negotiations, and I am awaiting the outcome. It is no secret that I want to go to Liverpool. Now, I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement, and I am confident that will happen.”

On Thursday morning, Arne Slot remained tight-lipped when approached by Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill.
Cotterill said: “You’re in the news.” Slot replied: “I am.”
The Sky Sports reporter then added: “You said you wanted to go to the Premier League, is there a possibility?”
The Dutchman replied: “I can’t deny that.”
Cotterill then continued: “Liverpool want you,” to which Slot simply said: “But tonight we play Go Ahead Eagles.”
Following Liverpool’s disappointing 2-0 defeat to Everton on Wednesday night, captain Virgil van Dijk became the first player to address the rumors surrounding Arne Slot.
He said: “I think Slot is one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment.
“With the way he plays and the philosophy he has, he can be a Liverpool coach. But I read and hear that it is far from complete. We shall see. We will focus on that next season, but that is still a long way off.”
