Liverpool and Feyenoord ‘reach agreement’ as Arne Slot set to replace Jurgen Klopp

This week, reports emerged that Liverpool have identified Slot as their top candidate to succeed Klopp in the summer. Speaking before Feyenoord’s 3-1 victory against Go Ahead Eagles, the 45-year-old expressed his eagerness to join Anfield.
He said: “The clubs are negotiating, I am awaiting the outcome. It is no secret I want to go to Liverpool. Now I am waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement, I am confident that will happen.”
It appears that a deal has been reached between the two clubs. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Arne Slot will be the new head coach of Liverpool, replacing Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season. Romano reported on social media:
“BREAKING: Arne Slot will be new Liverpool head coach replacing Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season! Agreement sealed on compensation between Feyenoord and #LFC, all set also on contract details for Slot.
Here we go.” Prior to Slot emerging as the favorite, other names like Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, Ruben Amorim, Thomas Tuchel, and Thomas Frank were all linked to the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool position.

Alonso announced last month that he will remain at Bayer Leverkusen, and recent reports suggest that Amorim’s move to Liverpool is unlikely. Following Liverpool’s disappointing 2-0 loss to Everton on Wednesday night,
captain Virgil van Dijk became the first player to comment on Slot, saying: “I think Slot is one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment.”
“With the way he plays and the philosophy he has, he can be a Liverpool coach. But I read and hear that it is far from complete. We shall see. We will focus on that next season, but that is still a long way off.”
Liverpool will return to action on Saturday as they face West Ham United in the Premier League.
