Darwin Nunez has made his first social media post since removing all Liverpool-related images from his Instagram account, causing a stir among fans.

Following Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham, where Nunez struggled to make an impact as a second-half substitute, he faced criticism from fans on social media. In response, he deleted all Liverpool-related pictures from his account, sparking speculation about his future. However, a reference to the club still remains in his bio.

This move has fueled rumors about Nunez’s potential departure, with reports suggesting Barcelona is considering a bid for the 24-year-old in the upcoming summer transfer window. Barcelona sees Nunez as a possible long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, despite his inconsistent form at Liverpool.

Breaking his silence on social media, Nunez replied to former Liverpool and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, who celebrated his 500th career goal on Monday evening with a hat-trick for Inter Miami. Nunez responded to Suarez’s achievement with admiration, using the term “idolo” (idol) and adding heart-eyes and tensed bicep emojis.

He shared a message to his fans on Instagram, writing: “500 goals in clubs, incredible. Thank you Nacional, Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona, Atletico [Madrid], Gremio, Inter Miami. And thanks to all of you for the support.”

Nunez, who plays alongside Suarez for the Uruguay national team, is now facing speculation about his future, with comparisons drawn to Suarez’s career move from Liverpool to Barcelona.

Since joining Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 in a deal worth up to £85 million, Nunez has scored 33 goals in 94 games for the Reds.

Despite the ongoing speculation surrounding his potential departure from Liverpool, Nunez reportedly wishes to hold discussions with incoming manager Arne Slot before making any decisions about his future.
