Niko Williams has not signed for Barcelona now because of Real Madrid!!
The future of the Spanish pavilion remains a hot topic in the ongoing summer Mercato as the player has attracted interest from numerous European clubs looking to sign him. Niko Williams has also become one of Barcelona’s primary targets. However, it seems Real Madrid has not yet had their final say.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca: The Spanish national team has been a focal point of the Euro 2024 championship so far, with Niko Williams emerging as one of the standout stars of the tournament, attracting the attention of top European clubs, including Barcelona, who are keen to sign him. It is reported that following his latest renewal, Niko has a €58 million release clause. This is the amount that the Barcelona administration would need to pay to secure the Spanish winger’s signature.
However, the network added that journalist Edo Velasco, who is well-connected to Bilbao, made it clear: “Niko Williams will remain at Athletic.” The journalist elaborated that Williams’ continued stay in Bilbao would bring him closer to Real Madrid, with Florentino Perez potentially eyeing him next summer.
This season, after signing Mbappe and bolstering the star-studded frontline, Niko Williams’ arrival at Real Madrid is not being considered. However, in the summer of 2025, Real Madrid might try to sign him if Rodrygo decides to leave due to lack of playing time. Additionally, Niko Williams himself has mentioned more than once that he dreams of playing alongside Mbappe at Real Madrid.
Although Barcelona has made an irresistible offer to sign the player, Williams is open to staying at Bilbao for another season while waiting for a call from Real Madrid. Niko Williams now understands that signing with Real Madrid is currently impossible, a situation that could change next summer. The choice lies between signing with Barcelona, moving to the English Premier League, or waiting for Real Madrid – that is the question.
