Local reports state that Ahmed Refaat, a 31-year-old football player, unexpectedly died early on Saturday morning from a heart attack. He had scored twice in seven international matches for Egypt between 2013 and 2022 when he tragically passed away. Refaat suffered a heart attack that lasted more than an hour in March during an Egyptian Premier League game versus Al-Ittihad Alexandria.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance, admitted, and after receiving critical care, he was given a pacemaker and allowed to go home. He recovered, but his condition worsened, ultimately taking his life.

Refaat was well-known for his winger position with Modern Future FC, and the football community has been profoundly affected by his passing. Mohamed Salah, the captain of Egypt and star player for Liverpool, paid respect to his former teammate by offering his condolences and support to Refaat’s family.

In a touching statement, Modern Future FC acknowledged Refaat’s struggles during his health crisis in March and mourned his passing. They paid tribute to Refaat’s memory and his services to the team and the sport, expressing their profound sorrow and trust in Allah’s plan.
