Reports from Italy suggest that Liverpool are leading the race to sign Teun Koopmeiners, with Atalanta willing to sell the Dutch midfielder to the Anfield club. According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Koopmeiners’ impressive season has drawn the attention of Premier League clubs, with Liverpool being “in pole position” to secure his signature.
The Milan-based news outlet indicates that Atalanta is seeking £50.8 million (€60 million) for their prized asset. They prefer to sell him abroad rather than to a direct Serie A competitor. However, Koopmeiners reportedly favors staying in Italy, with Juventus actively pursuing him.
Juventus is prepared to offer €40 million and may propose an exchange deal involving Dean Huijsen, valued at €30-35 million. The Turin club has already bolstered its midfield with Luiz and Thuram and is also interested in former Liverpool player Thiago.
Last season, Koopmeiners was a key player for Atalanta, contributing directly to 22 goals across all competitions and helping the team win the Europa League. Despite Atalanta’s asking price, no bids have been made yet for the Netherlands international.
