LIVERPOOL
OFFICIAL. This is the decision of Zubimendi to join Liverpool

Martin Zubimendi has opted to remain with Real Sociedad, rejecting a potential transfer to Liverpool. The 25-year-old midfielder’s decision was confirmed on Monday evening when he informed Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, that he would not be making the £51 million move to Anfield.

Spanish journalist Jorge Picon reports that Zubimendi had initially given Liverpool the go-ahead for the transfer just two weeks earlier. However, in a manner similar to Steven Gerrard’s famous decision to turn down Chelsea in 2005, Zubimendi ultimately decided to stay loyal to his boyhood club.
Zubimendi’s strong connection to Real Sociedad, his hometown team, was a key factor in his choice.
This isn’t the first time the midfielder has declined offers from major clubs, having previously turned down moves to both Arsenal and Bayern Munich. For now, his commitment to Real Sociedad remains steadfast.
