Virgil van Dijk has acknowledged that Liverpool have yet to offer him a new contract and hinted that the club could benefit from making some signings this summer.

Despite starting in Liverpool’s recent 4-1 victory over Sevilla, Van Dijk’s future remains uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract.

Van Dijk, who joined Liverpool from Southampton for £75 million in 2018 and has won both the Premier League and Champions League, admitted there have been no updates on a new deal.

He also expressed his belief that Liverpool should consider strengthening their squad given the demands of the upcoming season, though he trusts the club’s management to make the right decisions.

Liverpool, currently in discussions with Real Sociedad over a potential deal for Martin Zubimendi, have yet to sign any new players, and Van Dijk emphasized the importance of preparing a strong squad for the challenges ahead.

The new season begins with an away match against Ipswich on August 17th, marking Arne Slot’s first competitive game as Liverpool’s manager.
