Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri as Arne Slot looks to complete a deal before the transfer window closes. Despite not making any signings this summer, having failed in their pursuit of Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Slot is still actively seeking new talent as the new season approaches.

According to journalist David Lynch, Liverpool has been monitoring Ait-Nouri and has already held talks regarding a potential move. Slot is keen to add another left-back to provide competition for Andy Robertson, who has been a consistent starter since joining Liverpool in 2017.

Ait-Nouri, 23, impressed last season with Wolves, making 33 league appearances and scoring two goals. If Liverpool decides to move forward with the deal, Ait-Nouri could become Slot’s first signing as Liverpool manager.

Slot has implemented a new style of play at Liverpool and was recently asked about the club’s lack of activity in the transfer market. Addressing the situation, he stated: “As a club, we’re always looking to strengthen the squad, but it’s not so easy if you consider our current squad’s strength. If we can make improvements and find the right players, we will do so.”

Liverpool is set to kick off their new Premier League season with an away match against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
