Man United fans surprised by one player in opening day win against Fulham
Manchester United fans have lavished praise on a surprise standout player following their season-opening victory against Fulham.
United kicked off the 2024/25 Premier League season on a high note, with a late goal from new signing Joshua Zirkzee clinching a 1-0 win at Old Trafford on Friday. Although Fulham started strong, as the match progressed, United created several big chances but struggled to find the net until the 87th minute.
While Zirkzee’s debut goal has captured most of the headlines, it was another player who impressed fans on social media. Casemiro delivered one of his finest performances in a Manchester United shirt, playing a key role in the build-up to the winning goal. He set up Alejandro Garnacho, who provided the assist for Zirkzee’s strike.
One fan expressed their admiration by saying, “Casemiro has been nothing short of world-class tonight.” Another echoed this sentiment, adding, “Best player on the pitch. Fair play, Casemiro 👏🏽”
Fans also highlighted the 32-year-old’s speed and sharpness, with one comment noting, “Casemiro looks completely different from the player he was towards the end of last season. Quicker, more alert, and way too solid for his age 👏🏽”
Beyond his defensive contributions, the Brazilian midfielder also posed an attacking threat. He took three shots during the match and created three additional chances, including the assist leading to the goal.
In addition to his offensive work, Casemiro commanded the midfield with 84% pass accuracy, six ball recoveries, and four clearances, solidifying his impact on both ends of the pitch.
