Furious Man Utd fans voice anger at ‘crazy’ transfer fee as talented player ‘agrees’ deal to leave

Manchester United fans have been left outraged by the club after an ‘agreement’ was reached that will see one of their brightest young talents depart this summer.

Erik ten Hag is now entering his third season at the helm of Old Trafford, hoping to build on the club’s unexpected FA Cup triumph to generate momentum after an otherwise lackluster campaign.

United finished 8th last season, marking their worst-ever Premier League performance, and only managed to return to European competition thanks to their cup victory.

Despite the subdued atmosphere surrounding the club, there has been a glimmer of hope following a decent performance in the Community Shield and a season-opening win against Fulham.

The arrivals of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Joshua Zirkzee have further energized the fanbase, but it’s the nature of the departures that continues to infuriate United supporters.

As per The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, United have consented to the sale of 22-year-old Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos for a fee of €6m.

The Uruguayan international, who joined United in 2020 for €9m, has struggled to cement a regular spot in the team.

Pellistri made 25 appearances for United, providing two assists but failing to score, despite showing promise during brief stints on the pitch.

Having played just 611 minutes over four seasons, his departure isn’t entirely shocking, but the modest fee United are set to receive has left fans unimpressed.

Pellistri is the latest in a string of players to exit Old Trafford for a loss, a pattern that has frustrated fans in the ‘post-Fergie’ era, leading many to voice their frustrations online.

One supporter wrote: “He’s a 22-year-old national starting winger and we get €6m. It’s crazy. We’re terrible at sales.”

Another added: “If he were a Chelsea or City player, that would be at least €20m. The club’s reputation is in decline. But better years are ahead—we’ll rise again.”

A third commented: “We took a loss. Unbelievable. How can City sell players like Delap for £20m, and we get £5m for Pellistri?”
