After his disallowed goal in Manchester United’s 2-1 Premier League loss to Brighton & Hove Albion, Alejandro Garnacho expressed his thoughts on social media. During the August 24 match at the Amex Stadium, the Red Devils fell behind in the 32nd minute when Danny Welbeck scored from Kaoru Mitoma’s assist. United leveled in the 60th minute with a goal from Amad Diallo, assisted by Noussair Mazraoui.
Garnacho came on as a substitute for Marcus Rashford in the 65th minute and found the net in the 72nd minute. However, the goal was ruled out by VAR due to Joshua Zirkzee being offside in the build-up. Brighton secured the win in the 95th minute through João Pedro.
After the match, Garnacho shared a post on Instagram with a picture from the game, writing, “God has something planned for me, trust the process.” He also thanked Manchester United fans for their continued support, saying, “Thank you United fans for always supporting us.”
Following the loss, Manchester United found themselves in 11th place in the Premier League with three points from two games.
Ahead of the match, United manager Erik ten Hag spoke about Garnacho’s potential, stating that while he has the talent to become a top-tier player, there is still a long way to go. Ten Hag emphasized that hard work is key to reaching the elite level and praised the young forward for showing his value last season.
Garnacho, who debuted for the senior team in 2022, made 50 appearances last season, contributing 10 goals and five assists. This season, he has already provided one assist in his two league appearances.
United’s next Premier League fixture is against Liverpool at Old Trafford on September 1.
