Chelsea and Manchester United could agree one of the most ambitious swap deals ever before the summer transfer window closes.
Chelsea and Man United both endured disappointing campaigns in 2023-24, so it’s not surprising that both have been busy in the transfer market this summer.
Both clubs have made signings that should strengthen them in key areas, but both still have players who ideally need to be moved on.
Jadon Sancho’s future needs resolving urgently, as he appears to have no future at the club.
The English winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund after falling out with United boss Erik ten Hag, but so far no permanent suitors have been found.
Chelsea made headlines last weekend when Raheem sterling’s representatives demanded clarity on his future after he was let out of the match day squad on the opening day of the season.
Manager Enzo Maresca admitted that both Sterling and England teammate Ben Chilwell will struggle for minutes this season.
All three players are are free to leave their respective clubs, but their huge salaries present something of an obstacle for potential suitors.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea could propose a swap deal in a bid to persuade United to give them Sancho.

The report claims that Chelsea would include both Sterling and Chilwell in their offer in order to avoid paying a transfer fee for Sancho.
Chelsea’s plan is ambitious, particularly when Sancho is attracting interest from Juventus.
While the Serie A side would like to sign the player on loan, United could negotiate an obligation to buy clause and avoid sending Sancho to a direct Premier League rival.
United have previously been linked with Chilwell as they search for another left-back to help them cope with Luke Shaw’s injury issues.
