Liverpool could lose another player this summer, as a shock player is reported to be in ‘advanced talks’ for a move that no one saw coming.

The Reds have remained reserved in the 2024/25 summer transfer window, as they remain the only Premier League side yet to make a senior signing, despite a deal with Georgian keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili reportedly being close.

However, while the club have failed to bring in many incomings, several key players have left the club, with the likes of Fabio Carvalho, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip all departing this summer.

And now, Liverpool could be set to let another of their players go in the transfer window, with negotiations for another shock departure reportedly in ‘advanced talks’.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic could be set to join Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg on loan for the season.

Negotiations are already underway and entering the final stages, as Salzburg manager Pep Lijnders, who was Liverpool’s assistant manager under Jurgen Klopp, remains keen on signing the 19-year-old.

Several clubs in Spain are also said to be interested in securing Bajcetic’s signature, but Salzburg remains the most likely destination.

The Spanish youngster has made 22 senior appearances for Liverpool, having enjoyed several years playing for the youth teams after joining in 2021.

Bajcetic enjoyed regular minutes for Liverpool early in the 2022/23 season, but an injury sustained in March while playing Real Madrid ruled him out for the remainder of the season and he has struggled to stay fit since.

Should the loan deal be completed, Bajcetic will join former teammate Bobby Clark who completed a permanent move from Liverpool to Salzburg earlier in the summer.

Clark joined the Austrian club for a fee worth up to £10million, with a 17.5% sell on clause and a match rights agreement also included in the deal.

Posting on X, Clark wrote: “After an incredible 3 years at @liverpoolfc, I’ve decided it’s time for a new challenge. I’ve learned so much during my time at the club and am very thankful for the opportunities and experiences I’ve had. Thank you to all the fans who supported me on this journey #ynwa ❤️”
