Arsenal fans have been left unimpressed with the club due to a key detail in their deal with Bournemouth for the loan signing of goalkeeper Neto.

The Gunners were forced into the market due to the exit of Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton, prompting the move for the Brazilian goalkeeper.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Brighton on Saturday, Mikel Arteta paid tribute to the club’s former first-choice shot-stopper.

“First of all just say thank you so much for what he’s done for the club, for the team, and for myself. When he joined he brought a lot of joy and charisma and energy and he was really good at that time,” Arteta said.

“Then things developed. He had a situation where he was insisting a lot that he was happiest when he plays. We have tried to fulfill that desire that he had. He looked really excited and happy the other day. He’s joining a great club and a great coach, he looks really excited so I think we are all happy for him.”

Arsenal are set to confirm the signing of Neto on loan according to Fabrizio Romano, with the player having a medical with the London club on Friday morning.

While replacing Ramsdale with Neto on loan may seem like a good bit of business for Arsenal, fans have clocked on to a key detail of the deal which changes everything.

Due to Neto’s participation in the Carabao Cup for Bournemouth, the goalkeeper will be unavailable to deputise for David Raya in Arsenal’s league cup matches.

Arsenal fans have taken to social media to vent out their frustrations over Neto’s situation.

One fan commented: “Oh great, our deadline day signing can’t play for us until after Christmas.”

Another joked: “That’s the only games he was gonna get lol.”

A third questioned the decision to bring in the Brazilian: “So what’s the point in signing him?”

Another replied: “We historically never took the Carabao Cup seriously, so Tedford playing a game or 2 before we crash out ain’t the end of the world.”

One fan completely lost it: “I didn’t realise this yesterday. What’s the point? So Raya/Setford will play Carabao? Then what is Neto’s job? Waiting for Raya to get injured or waiting for the FA Cup in January?”
