LIVERPOOL
🔥🏟️Paul Scholes reveals huge concern he spotted while watching Liverpool boss Arne Slot on touchline vs Man Utd
their new manager.
It was an impressive performance from the Reds but Scholes noticed a potential issue involving Alexander-Arnold.
He played 75 minutes at Old Trafford and was substituted for the third consecutive game.
Unlike after the Brentford game where he had a face full of thunder, the England international was much happier this time around.
Yet Scholes wonders if Slot is too happy with Alexander-Arnold after spotting the Dutchman’s antics on the bench.
Speaking on Stick to Football, brought to you by Sky Bet, Scholes said: “Watching that Sunday game, every time he gave the ball away he [Slot] was shaking his head. I was down there. He kept looking away and turning around to his bench.
“He was trying these long balls, which obviously he can do brilliantly. I thought, ‘I’m not sure if he likes him’.”
Liverpool legend Carragher understood Scholes’ view, feeling as though Slot wants shorter and more simple passes for his team.

He explained: “I think the way Slot wants to play, he doesn’t want these long balls as much. ‘He will want him to stay as a player.”
Playing at right-back but dropping into midfield under interim boss Lee Carsley for England, Alexander-Arnold excelled in wins of Republic of Ireland and Finland.
At Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold’s contract expires at the end of the season and there is uncertainty over his situation.
Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk are in the same situation but Carragher thinks there will be a different reaction to Alexander-Arnold given he is an academy product.

“I think his situation at Liverpool is really interesting,” Carragher said.
“I always feel like at Liverpool and you’re a local player, leaving the club is difficult.
“You have three players in [Mohamed] Salah, [Virgil] van Dijk and Trent. I think the reaction from Liverpool supporters, with Trent it will be different. If you go through it – [Steve] McManaman, [Steven] Gerrard, the fans completely turned.
“I think he will be treated differently and it was interesting in the first game when he came off and he looked a little bit unhappy on the bench.
“Even though he’d only been there for two games, it was a little bit like, ‘Who do you think you are?’.”
