Marcus Rashford believes Man United legends are ‘BULLYING him’, with dropped England star feeling criticism is an ‘onslaught’ and ‘beyond unfair’ amid his poor run of form

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford reportedly feels that criticism from the club’s former players in the media has crossed the line into “bullying” and is “beyond unfair.”

Rashford has struggled with form, failing to score this season and netting only seven Premier League goals last season.

According to *The i*, Rashford believes the level of criticism he faces is harsher than that directed at his teammates.

A source told the newspaper, “When someone else misplaces a pass, it goes unnoticed, but when it’s Marcus, it’s different. Very different. The criticism he’s getting is relentless. It’s bullying. Fans trust what senior ex-players say, which only makes it worse.”

The source continued, “The club has spent £100 million on central strikers, and Marcus is back on the wing, playing as a facilitator. He’s doing his job in that respect. It’s not his fault that the chances aren’t being converted.”

Pundits who have recently criticized Rashford include former United players Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and Teddy Sheringham.

Additionally, Rashford has faced frequent criticism from Manchester United supporters on social media.

During the international break, Rashford undertook an intense personal training regime, aiming to rediscover his best form and regain his place in the England squad.

Despite his lack of goals, Rashford continues to create chances for United, and there is a belief within his camp that several of the club’s players have struggled to perform under Erik ten Hag.

Rashford, who has earned 60 caps for England, was excluded from Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad and was also omitted from interim boss Lee Carsley’s first team selection.

Neville criticized Rashford’s performance in United’s 3-0 loss to Liverpool, lamenting the forward’s apparent lack of confidence.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said, “There’s no confidence. He had a one-on-one with Konaté, but ended up back at center-back. United fans won’t let him get away with that. Whatever happens, you still have to go for it, take on the one-on-one. He may not be having a great day or time, but he turned back, and that shows where his head is at. It’s been going on for 14 months. He scored 30 goals the season before last. I’d like to think he can regain his confidence, but it looks like a struggle. The game doesn’t look enjoyable for him right now, and that’s sad.”

In April, Keane claimed that Rashford needed “an old-fashioned kick up the backside.”

Speaking on *The Stick to Football* podcast, Keane said, “I wouldn’t say I’m worried about him, but you look at him, and something’s missing. Who is around him, whether it’s family or his manager, who’s on his case every day? Who is giving him an old-fashioned kick up the backside and saying, ‘Come on, we need more from you’? If you want to be this leader and you’re on big contracts, then there is that responsibility.”

Sheringham, meanwhile, suggested that Rashford’s best position is still unclear and that he must work hard to break out of his current slump.

Speaking to Ladbrokes’ *Gaffer of All Accas*, Sheringham said, “He’s having a tough time, no doubt about it. He hasn’t got leaders out there helping him; he’s struggling, and the rest of the players are just telling him to get on with it. You need players who will rally around you. You can change your performances with hard work and effort, showing people that you really care.”
