Rasmus Hojlund is set to make his first start of the season for Manchester United in their upcoming match against Tottenham. The young Danish forward had been sidelined with a hamstring injury during the pre-season tour in the United States, and the club has taken a cautious approach to his recovery. Hojlund recently came off the bench in United’s Europa League draw against FC Twente but couldn’t help secure the win. With United struggling in attack, manager Erik ten Hag is expected to start Hojlund over Joshua Zirkzee this weekend.

Mason Mount also returned from injury during the Twente match, having missed time after starting United’s first two games of the season. Kobbie Mainoo, who made a late appearance in the same game, is likely to be restored to the starting lineup, replacing Christian Eriksen. Meanwhile, Casemiro was rested against Twente, while Manuel Ugarte played the full match.

Speculation around Marcus Rashford continues after he was left out of the starting lineup against Crystal Palace. Paul Scholes hinted that personal issues might be affecting Rashford, but Ten Hag has been rotating his wingers, including Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Amad Diallo. Garnacho is pushing for a starting spot against Tottenham.

United remains without Leny Yoro, Tyrell Malacia, Victor Lindelof, and Luke Shaw. Ten Hag suggested Shaw’s return may be delayed until after the October international break.

Tottenham, fresh off a win against Brentford, will welcome back Yves Bissouma and Timo Werner, though they will be without Wilson Odebert due to a hamstring injury, and Richarlison is also unavailable.

The predicted Manchester United lineup is: Onana; Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Ugarte, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.
