Real Madrid experienced their first Champions League defeat, losing 1-0 to Lille on Wednesday evening.

The Royal Club looked sluggish in the first half, with their efforts failing to find the back of the net, while Lille’s players remained composed in their ball control. This pattern persisted until extra time.

As a result, Lille earned their first three points of the tournament, while Real Madrid remains at three points from their earlier victory over Stuttgart in the first round.

According to details shared by the Spanish newspaper *El Nacional*, the tunnel leading to the locker rooms saw a heated moment, as Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé voiced his frustration at two players, Eduardo Camavinga and Arda Güler, blaming them for the defeat.

Mbappé singled out Camavinga for causing the penalty that led to the match’s only goal, criticizing him for recklessly putting his hand in the ball’s path.

Güler was criticized for missing a clear chance to score in the final seconds, failing to place the ball properly, which made it easy for the goalkeeper to save.

This response highlights the tension after the loss and emphasizes the significance of the upcoming games in the team’s campaign.

The newspaper mentioned that Luka Modric stepped in to defuse the situation between Mbappé and the players, reminding them that there are many matches ahead for the team to bounce back: “The journey is still long.”
