Perez exp.lodes in Ancelotti’s face after the loss to Lille and warns him about this matter
Real Madrid experienced their first Champions League defeat, losing 1-0 to Lille on Wednesday evening.
With this result, Lille secured their first three points in the tournament, while Real Madrid remains with three points from their victory over Stuttgart in the first round. According to *Defensa Central*, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez immediately went to the locker room after the match to confront coach Carlo Ancelotti in a heated exchange.
Pérez reportedly expressed surprise and frustration over Ancelotti’s decisions, particularly the inclusion of Eduardo Camavinga and Endrick in the starting lineup. He argued that Camavinga’s lack of match rhythm, having just returned from injury, contributed to the penalty that led to Lille’s goal. Additionally, Pérez criticized Ancelotti for relying on 16-year-old Endrick in such a high-pressure away game, suggesting that Rodrygo should have been the better option.
During their intense conversation, Pérez questioned Ancelotti’s tactical approach, allegedly stating, “I did not see any tactical plan throughout the match.” The president reportedly expressed his belief to a club member that this generation of players deserves a better coach than Ancelotti, and pointed to Xabi Alonso as his preferred successor. Pérez views Alonso as the ideal coach to turn Real Madrid into an attacking powerhouse.
The report also revealed that Ancelotti apologized to Pérez, admitting that starting Camavinga was a mistake, especially given his recent return from injury. He further announced a surprising decision regarding Endrick, vowing not to include the young Brazilian in any future Champions League starting lineups.
Ancelotti and his assistant, Davide, are also reportedly frustrated with Ferland Mendy’s poor performances this season, which led to Mendy being substituted at halftime during the match. The coach expressed to Pérez how much he misses German midfielder Toni Kroos, emphasizing the impact of his absence on the team’s system and the difficulty in finding a suitable replacement.
In a shocking response, Pérez reportedly told Ancelotti, “The player has left and will not return; adapt to that and start finding a way to ensure Real Madrid’s dreams do not evaporate this season, or you may face dismissal.”
