LIVERPOOL
BREAKING NEWS: Huge News Has Been Confirmed This Evening On Eberechi Eze’s Move To Liverpool

Liverpool are reportedly gearing up for an active winter transfer window, with plans to reinforce key areas of their squad. According to *Football Insider*, the club is prioritizing the signing of a holding midfielder in January, following their unsuccessful pursuit of Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi over the summer. While it’s unclear if Liverpool will renew their interest in the 25-year-old Spaniard, they remain keen on strengthening their midfield.
In addition to a defensive midfielder, Liverpool are also targeting Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, a player who has caught the eye of manager Jürgen Klopp. As reported by Pete O’Rourke, Eze is seen as a key target, with Liverpool aiming to bring in more than one midfielder. Crystal Palace’s chairman, Steve Parish, has praised Eze as an “outstanding footballer,” but any potential deal would likely require a substantial bid in the range of £50-60 million.
Eze’s arrival could bolster Liverpool’s options in the attacking midfield, particularly given some recent criticisms of Dominik Szoboszlai’s contributions in the final third. Eze, who has already netted three goals and provided one assist in the 2024/25 campaign, offers a more prolific attacking presence. Last season, he registered 11 goals and four assists in 27 Premier League games, surpassing Szoboszlai’s current output.
From a statistical standpoint, Eze’s impact is clear. Data from FBref ranks him in the 90th percentile for non-penalty expected goals (xG), compared to Szoboszlai’s 50th percentile. This suggests that if Liverpool are seeking to inject more attacking creativity and competition into their midfield, Eze could be the ideal choice.
Liverpool’s interest in Eze signals their intent to maintain a high level of competition within the squad. While Szoboszlai’s performances have been solid, the addition of Eze could push both players to elevate their game. The challenge for Liverpool will be convincing Crystal Palace to part with their star midfielder, but if the club is serious about making a Premier League title push and competing in Europe, adding players of Eze’s caliber could be crucial.
Ultimately, Liverpool’s January transfer business may play a key role in shaping their season, with the acquisition of both a holding midfielder and an attacking talent like Eze giving Klopp’s side a much-needed boost.
