Dani Carvajal’s replacement: Real Madrid abandon track XXL

Dani Carvajal’s serious injury has been a major concern for Real Madrid in recent days. The club, which has been seeking a replacement for its vice-captain, has already ruled out an XXL option.
Real Madrid was saddened by Dani Carvajal’s severe injury sustained last Sunday against Villarreal at the Bernabeu. While attempting to clear the ball under pressure from a Villarreal player, the 32-year-old Spanish international suffered a terrible knee injury. According to the diagnosis, his season is already over, with an estimated recovery period of at least one year.

In an official statement, Real Madrid shared the unfortunate news with its fans. Carvajal is suffering from the rupture of three ligaments—a devastating injury for a high-level athlete. “Following the medical examinations conducted on our player Dani Carvajal, he was diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, a rupture of the external lateral ligament, and a rupture of the popliteal tendon in his right leg. He will undergo surgery in the coming days,” the statement reads.
Following this, Real Madrid has become active in the winter transfer market. Florentino Perez’s top priority is to not only secure a replacement for Carvajal but also to strengthen the center-back position due to the ongoing physical issues of Éder Militão and the uncertainty surrounding David Alaba.
Real Madrid Abandons the Pursuit of Achraf Hakimi

To replace Carvajal, Real Madrid has a clear plan. Florentino Perez’s ultimate dream is to sign Liverpool’s English international, Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, Liverpool does not intend to let go of their star player in January, even though his contract ends in 2025. Despite this, Alexander-Arnold may not join Real Madrid anytime soon, as Liverpool’s leadership is known for tough negotiations.
As an alternative, Real Madrid considered bringing Achraf Hakimi back from PSG. However, due to the strained relationship between PSG and Real Madrid following the Kylian Mbappe saga, the French club is unwilling to negotiate with Florentino Perez. Additionally, Hakimi’s contract, which extends with PSG until 2030, further complicates the possibility of a transfer. Hakimi, now a key player under Luis Enrique at PSG, is also the team’s second-highest scorer behind Barcola, making him one of the most complete right-backs in world football today.
Jeremy Frimpong: Real Madrid’s New Target
With the Hakimi option off the table, Real Madrid is now exploring other possibilities. According to Spanish media, the club is interested in Jeremie Frimpong, the right-back from Bayer Leverkusen. At just 24 years old, Frimpong has established himself as an undisputed starter under the management of Xabi Alonso, a former Real Madrid player who could potentially become the club’s coach in the future.
Frimpong, known for his speed and offensive threat, presents a more feasible and realistic solution for Real Madrid in a transfer market that is often challenging for Europe’s top clubs.
