Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock has formally confirmed the temporary acquisition of James Balagizi, a youth prospect from Liverpool.

As per the club’s official website, the 20-year-old midfielder is set to join for the remainder of the 2023-24 season, subject to clearance. Kilmarnock, under the leadership of Derek McInnes, is currently positioned fourth in the league standings, showcasing significant progress compared to their performance in the early stages of the previous season.

Any prospects of Liverpool completing a permanent deal in January?

Goncalo Inacio, the highly-regarded center-half for Sporting Lisbon, continues to be a name linked to our club, suggesting a degree of genuine interest. However, it seems more probable that we will opt to wait until the end of the season before reassessing our squad needs.

The resurgence of Joe Gomez and the emergence of Jarell Quansah as a promising talent have likely eased the coaching staff’s concerns during the current season.

Post-season, there will remain a substantial need to allocate resources for future planning, particularly to fortify a defensive line that has proven susceptible to injury issues.
