The Anfield side have reportedly had a scout present at several matches of eight-time Brazilian champions Santos and are there to keep an eye on Robinho Jnr, who is on the verge of the first-team squad at just 17 years of age. Liverpool scout Dassler Marques has been present at multiple Santos games this season to monitor the promising forward, although he has not had much game time for the Sao Paulo club this campaign. The left-winger has clocked up just 52 minutes of action in three substitute appearances in Brazilian Serie A and has been on the bench for the last eight Santos matches. Liverpool Monitoring Robinho Jnr Robinho Junior According to MailOnline, Chelsea are also among the clubs monitoring Robinho Jnr closely, with their South American scouting team keeping tabs on the 17-year-old’s development at Santos. Robinho Jnr is regarded as the latest huge prospect to come out of Santos’ academy, whose famous graduates include Pele, Neymar, Rodrygo and Gabriel Barbosa. The 17-year-old winger joined Santos’ youth setup in May 2022, aged 14, and signed his first professional contract with the club in August 2024. He was first registered with the first-team squad in February and was soon handed the number 7 jersey, previously worn by his father, Robinho, who had three separate spells at the Brazilian club and was capped 100 times by his country. Robinho Jnr made his first-team debut in July, coming on as a substitute in Santos’ 1-0 home win over Flamengo in Serie A. GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Robinho Jnr has scored four goals in 11 appearances for Santos U20 this season. Liverpool’s summer business saw them rejuvenate Arne Slot’s first-team squad with multiple exciting signings, including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez. The reigning Premier League champions also brought in Giovanni Leoni, an 18-year-old Italian centre-back, who joined from Parma on a six-year deal. Leoni is regarded as one of the most promising central defenders in Europe and is coming off a breakthrough season in Italy, where he made 17 appearances in Serie A. Liverpool broke their transfer record twice this summer, with Wirtz and Alexander Isak’s arrivals, with the Sweden international joining in a £125m deal from Newcastle. The Reds spent a total of £415m on new arrivals, more than any other club in the world, with eight new signings completed.
