Kevin de Bruyne’s late assist triggered a 3-2 comeback victory for Manchester City at Newcastle United on Saturday in his first Premier League involvement since the start of the season.
In the 69th minute, with City behind 2-1, the Belgian midfielder—out since August due to a hamstring injury—came off the bench to equalize with a brilliant low finish.

Subsequently, in stoppage time, he executed the ideal pass to fellow replacement Oscar Bobb, securing the three points that vaulted champions City into second place, two points behind Liverpool.

After Bernardo Silva, who De Bruyne had replaced, gave City the lead in the 26th minute with an incredible close-range strike, Pep Guardiola’s team

Alexander Isak curled in an equaliser in the 35th minute and Anthony Gordon sent the home fans wild with an almost identical finish two minutes later.

City have 43 points from 20 games with Liverpool on 45 while Newcastle’s fourth successive defeat left them 10th in the standings.
