Kyle Walker reveals Man City dressing room reaction to Trent Alexander-Arnold comments

The response of Manchester City’s players to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s remarks regarding Liverpool’s trophies “meaning more” has been made public by Kyle Walker.

The right-back’s comments, which he made prior to the two teams’ massive Sunday match at Anfield, created quite a stir.

Alexander-Arnold stated, “How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans,” despite the fact that there have been some mind games involved.

In an interview with Sky Sports, City striker Erling Haaland was asked about the assertion. He responded with a vicious dig, saying, “I’ve been here one year and I won the treble.” It was a pleasant enough feeling. I don’t believe Alexander-Arnold truly understands this emotion.”

During Friday’s news conference, Pep Guardiola opted not to comment and instead wished Alexander-Arnold a swift recovery after his injury. Ruben Dias also shared his thoughts in an interview with BBC Radio Manchester.

When Walker, the captain of City, came on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE podcast, he was asked to respond.

The England international did acknowledge that it was a topic of discussion in the City locker room, even though he wasn’t too willing to provide his opinion.

“I’m not even getting involved!” he confessed. Today, it has been circling the locker room.”

Remarks like “half your team talk done” may be the ideal motivator ahead of the crucial match, Ferdinand advised Walker.

But the 33-year-old went on to explain that he is still yet to taste victory at Anfield during his time at Spurs and City

City’s road record against Liverpool is dismal; in their seven league visits under Guardiola, the team’s lone victory occurred in the 2020–21 season without any spectators.

“I’ve never won there,” he continued. Never had a winning team there. [Riyad] Mahrez had the opportunity to alter it, but he missed the penalty.

“I think the fans are incredible but I’ve just never won there.”
