According to reports, Manchester City is interested in signing Newcastle United winger Bruno Guimaraes.

The Brazilian player has previously stated that he dislikes facing City because, each time they face them, Newcastle feels like “children” up against 15 players.

In addition, the 26-year-old expressed his admiration for Ilkay Gundogan by stating that he has been a fan of the German midfielder ever since they both attended Borussia Dortmund.

Bruno Guimaraes is wanted by Manchester City for a fee of £100 million.

He has established himself as one of the top midfielders in the Premier League and perhaps all of Europe since joining Eddie Howe’s squad in 2022.

In October of last year, Guimaraes signed a new contract with Newcastle that will keep him there until 2028.

However, according to Football Transfers, Manchester City intends to upgrade their centre in the summer, which is why they want to sign Bruno Guimaraes.

Pep Guardiola is reportedly a “big fan” of the former Lyon IT employee as well.

Rio de Janeiro is his birthplace, and he reportedly wants to join with Real Madrid or Barcelona after the season ends instead of staying with Newcastle.

But those kinds of changes don’t appear likely right now.

Conversely, it’s reported that Newcastle is amenable to proposals from any of the two Spanish powerhouses. The club would require other teams, such as Manchester City, to pay £100 million in order to fulfil his release option.

Paris Saint-Germain has also been mentioned as a potential suitor. It is unlikely that Guimaraes will relocate to Chelsea or Liverpool.

It’s still unclear whether Bruno Guimaraes and Pep Guardiola will collaborate at Manchester City.
