Manchester United player Rasmus Hojlund swiftly responded to Liverpool’s tough loss against Atalanta in the Europa League.

Liverpool suffered a 3-0 defeat at Anfield, with former West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca scoring twice and Mario Pasalic adding a late third goal.

Liverpool fans on social media mercilessly targeted one player following the devastating outcome.

Jamie Carragher, on the other hand, identified one positive aspect for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s Hojlund expressed his thoughts on the remarkable game by sharing Atalanta’s post on his Instagram story, along with the caption: “Mola mia,” which is a Bergamo saying.

Certainly, Hojlund previously played for the Serie A club, where he scored 10 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. He ended his time at the Italian club when he moved to Old Trafford for a significant £72 million fee last summer. Despite his departure from the Stadio di Bergamo, the Dane evidently still follows his former team closely.

As for Liverpool, they will aim to overcome the three-goal deficit in next Thursday’s return leg. Klopp expressed disappointment with his team’s performance after the game and acknowledged that they deserved to lose.

“A really bad game, oh my God. We lost the plot a bit, we were everywhere and nowhere,” he said.

“We deserved to lose. Congratulations to Atalanta.”

Regarding Liverpool’s chances in the second leg in Italy, Klopp commented, “Can we win in Bergamo? Yes, if we play well. Can we win 3-0? I have no idea. Now we have to recover. We must feel really, really bad. It’s important. That was a bad performance, that’s how it is.”

The Reds, currently second in the league, will resume their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they host Crystal Palace.
