Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has suggested that Zinedine Zidane could be the ideal candidate to revive the club’s fortunes. While Saha acknowledges the efforts of current manager Erik ten Hag, he believes that Zidane’s high standards and leadership could significantly enhance the team’s mentality. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe now faces a crucial decision regarding Ten Hag’s future, especially after a season where United won the FA Cup but finished eighth in the Premier League—their worst-ever league finish.

In a conversation with OLBG, as reported by the Mirror, Saha expressed his admiration for Zidane: “Zidane is the manager I would dream of having at Manchester United for obvious reasons. He would do well, he’s motivated to return to football, and I think it will be difficult for him to stay out for another year.”

Saha also highlighted the potential impact Zidane could have in the dressing room: “His impact at United would be huge because many players would see him as an inspiration and a motivation to excel, rather than just accepting their current standards. The team’s approach doesn’t align with what Zidane would bring. Too many players at United tend to drop their level and lack the consistency needed. You need to have ten players obsessed with getting the team back to the top to be successful.”

With Zidane’s proven track record and ability to inspire players, Saha believes his appointment could be a transformative move for Manchester United as they seek to return to the top of English football.
