Jurgen Klopp briefly addressed Manchester City’s 115 Financial Fair Play (FFP) charges during his farewell event at Liverpool. Klopp, who departed his role as Liverpool manager following the final Premier League game of the season, reflected on his tenure that saw him win seven trophies at Anfield. Arne Slot is set to succeed him from Feyenoord.

The farewell event, held on Tuesday evening, celebrated Klopp’s nearly nine-year spell at Liverpool. Amid the celebrations, the topic of Manchester City’s financial allegations was discussed. These charges, brought in 2023, allege breaches of financial rules and if proven, could result in severe penalties ranging from fines to relegation.

Comedian John Bishop, hosting the event, asked Klopp what he would do if City were stripped of their Premier League titles, potentially increasing Klopp’s league title wins from one to three. Klopp humorously responded, “If you organise a bus parade, I am in! How long it takes, I don’t care.”

Meanwhile, The Times reported that Manchester City’s top officials, including chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak, managing director Ferran Soriano, and director of football Txiki Begiristain, have assured manager Pep Guardiola that the club will be exonerated when the charges are reviewed later this year. The alleged breaches span from 2009 to 2018, and City has strongly denied any wrongdoing.

Failure to provide accurate financial reports for player and manager compensation from 2009/10 to and including 2017/18 – 14 alleged breaches

Breaches of Premier League profitability and sustainability regulations from 2015/16 to and including 2017/18 – Seven alleged breaches

Failure to comply with UEFA’s regulations, including UEFA’s Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations – Five alleged breaches
