Arsenal secured their place in the Carabao Cup final by edging past Chelsea with a 1–0 win in the second leg of their semi-final at the Emirates, a result that sparked frustration among Chelsea supporters over one player’s particularly poor performance.
Chelsea arrived in north London trailing 3–2 on aggregate and needed at least one goal to force the tie level. However, clear-cut chances were scarce for both sides, with neither team managing more than a single shot on target before half-time.
In response, Chelsea introduced Estevao and Cole Palmer early in the second half in an attempt to inject urgency into their attack. Despite the changes, they struggled to create meaningful openings. Their increasing attacking commitment eventually left them exposed defensively, and Kai Havertz took full advantage by scoring a decisive late goal to seal Arsenal’s passage to Wembley.
Chelsea Supporters Frustrated by Lacklustre Display
It was a deeply underwhelming night for Chelsea, who never found any real rhythm in their performance. Their forward play lacked sharpness, even with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap deployed together up front.
The contrast between the two strikers’ seasons has been stark. Pedro has played a key role in Chelsea’s run to the Champions League last 16, while Delap has managed only two goals across the campaign. Any confidence the young forward had seemed to drain away during his 60 minutes on the pitch.
Frequently stationed on the right flank, Delap struggled to influence the game and was comfortably contained by Arsenal’s defence. He failed to link play effectively and was consistently beaten in the air, unable to provide knock-ons for Pedro or support the overlapping runs of Malo Gusto.
